1. Stoney Hill Logging Update
Extreme fire risk is now the indisputable reason to pause signing the contract for the blowdown recovery logging on Stoney Hill. Despite the 1,500 petitions, 900 petition comments, numerous letters, and pleas to Mayor and Council, the Stoney Hill logging tender has closed, been awarded and is about to be signed. There has been no public consultation. 1,800 cubic meters or approx. 45 logging trucks of timber are slated to be removed from the mountain.

2. North Cowichan Citizen Satisfaction Survey
WhereDoWeStand collected almost 100 pages of citizen comments and asked that they be forwarded to the Forest Advisory Committee. We were told that they were too political and were not included with the other correspondence. Another avenue for public feedback has been opened. North Cowichan is conducting an online Citizen Satisfaction Survey.
