Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the English Wine Tasting event planned for 22 June. Ticket orders have been slow and with only a week to go the risk of a significant and unacceptable loss was high. So, we are sorry, but we must pull the plug (or cork?) on the event and return all ticket money taken.
Fundraising Campaign
Notwithstanding the cancellation the fundraising campaign is doing well and has reached over £8000. We are still on track to make the remaining £5000 and will continue with a stand at the Pyrford and Wisley Flower Show on 13 July and a schedule of talks by some interesting speakers. Further details of these will appear on our website in due course.

Heritage Conservation Project
In the meantime, we have kicked off the Heritage Conservation project with our consultants and are now working to research local history and older community assets. Desk based online research will include current and past land use, social and economic background together with place names and historical references. Field research will document the area through photographs, interviews with local residents/historians, stories and articles and cataloguing historic events associated with assets, places and people. This work is aimed at building the evidence base for the overall assessment of heritage assets and there is scope for help from anyone with an interest in any of the above. We would also like to start a full character assessment of the Forum area covering both landscape and townscapes.
Other Issues
Following the recent council elections, WBC are undertaking a bit of a reorganisation and forming the key committees for the year ahead. Currently development site allocation proposals are being finalised for a full council meeting in July and then submission to the Secretary of State. An Examination in Public is still expected in October or November.
