The KOIN TV segment on Tektronix for their "Where We Live" feature mentioned in last month's newsletter actually aired on May 20th. If you missed it, "Where We Live: Tektronix and the Silicon Forest" can be viewed on-line at www.koin.com/where-we-live
Last month's newsletter also mentioned the rebroadcast of Oregon Public Broadcasting's "Oregon Experience: The Spirit of Tek". This can also be viewed on-line but is no longer offered for sale by OPB.

The vintageTEK museum has a limited quantity of these DVDs that we sell on our eBay store.  Buy yours before we run out.
The vintageTEK museum held their exhibit at MESA Day 2019 (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement). MESA Day is an annual engineering, math and science competition that provides an opportunity for each student to design and build projects, win medals, learn by doing, visit a college campus, and interact with each other.
The booth featured three exhibits: our demo board where contestants play table tennis against each other, Scope Art which creates dazzling displays using knobs and switches, and our Time Of Flight which measures the speed of a marble down a ramp using 7633 storage oscilloscope. The booth was visited by a number of students from middle school through high school and was held on the Portland State University campus.
Our new Photo of the Month is of a complex looking machine that was part of the cable assembly operation. It weaves the shielding on a coax cable and must have been amazing to watch.
The museum was contacted by volunteers restoring Site Summit near Anchorage, Alaska, about obtaining a representative oscilloscope for the facility. Commissioned in 1959, it is one of three Nike Missile sites that protected Anchorage, Elmendorf AFB, and Fort Richardson during the Cold War, and one of 145 Nike Hercules missile sites constructed across the nation from 1957 to 1960. Museum volunteer Tom Goodapple cleaned and restored a Tektronix 545 which has been shipped to the site.  Transportation and installation will take some time but we hope to have photos in the future. The museum is proud to be able to participate in preservation efforts with working vintage Tektronix instruments.
Stan Griffiths, co-founder of the vintageTEK museum, published a book "Oscilloscopes: Selecting and Restoring a Classic" in 1992. The book has been out of print and the museum has been selling a PDF version of the book on CD

The museum has reprinted this book and are selling it on our eBay store. Our initial quantity sold out quickly so we had to reprint some more. The book is a classic compendium of vintage Tektronix oscilloscopes.
