The Support Scheme for Renewable Heat is now open for applications.
Businesses that install an eligible biomass, biogas or CHP system will receive an ongoing quarterly payment for 15 years based on how much heat they create and consume.
The tariff is available to businesses in the commercial, industrial, agricultural and public sector and other non-domestic heat users. This includes hotels and leisure centres, office buildings, farms, agri-business and industrial processes.
Benefits for businesses
Businesses spend a significant amount of money on heating. Switching to a renewable heating system can help them save money and make their business more resilient to rising energy costs.
The tariff is a very attractive financial incentive.
It will help businesses reduce their carbon footprint.
Customers are embracing green business, and it is increasingly important for businesses to show that they are taking steps to improve their sustainability.
In addition, this support offers new opportunities for business and the agri-sector, and offers the potential to develop local and sustainable supply chains for biomass in Ireland. Businesses that buy their biomass fuel locally, will be directly supporting the local economy as well as businesses and communities in the local area.
