Message from the Executive Director

We’re in the process of organizing our annual “Books for MLAs” mail out, scheduled for the end of August. Danielle will be in touch with publishers to request some copies of books that we have matched up with individual MLAs. This program is a way of profiling the fine work that Alberta book publishers do with our elected members of the legislature.

The BPAA annual conference program is coming together well and we’ll have the details posted on our website next week. Registration is now open for the conference and awards gala, and you can purchase your tickets through Eventbrite.

The BPAA has booked a booth on the Canada Stand at the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair. We will be putting out a call for submissions for titles to display in the booth this month, and will make the space available for meetings for BPAA members who are attending the fair. Please email Patricia to book meeting times in the booth. If you’re attending the fair and don’t have a spot on the Canada Stand, you’ll need to purchase a trade visitor pass (30% early bird discount ends July 31).

Patricia and I will be heading to Toronto on Monday for the ACP AGM, PD and Book Summit. We look forward to seeing our colleagues from across the country at this annual gathering of publishers and associations.

With best regards,

Kieran Leblanc
