CHS & M WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBERS

Kisha "Jill" Alexander, Secretary/Administrative Assistant, came to us through the Imani Program. Skilled for the job, she had previously worked for the Grenada Tourism Authority working on data storage and at its front desk. She also brings her interest in history and hopes we will have more school presentations, museum workshops, and programs for children and adults.
Elizabeth Bedeau, Librarian and Assistant to the Curator with administrative responsibilities, is a retired school teacher and librarian from the Harvey Vale School. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. Because of Ms. Bedeau, our collection of reading materials has been organized and our library is now open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 4:00 PM for students, CHS & M members, and visitors. Books have been catalogued according to the Dewey Decimal System and organized in labelled sections. Books about the history and culture of Carriacou and Petite Martinique are located in a special section. Ms. Bedeau utilizes the library's donated computer. She looks forward to a special glass cabinet to hold books on reserve; air conditioning for temperature control which is so important for library preservation; and improved lighting.

CARRIACOU MAROON EXHIBIT

This Spring 2019, we were blessed with three highly successful maroons: the Six Roads Maroon and the Carriacou Maroon and String Band Music Festival on April 26th; and the Bogles Maroon on May 17th... At the Museum, Curator Clemencia Alexander installed a Carriacou Maroon Exhibit in the downstairs exhibit area so visitors may study and learn details about the maroon celebration.
Curator, Clemencia Alexander is organizing CHS & M 2019 Regatta Exhibit which will open the end of June and be on display until September.

CHS & M PROJECT - SHAKESPEARE MAS'

For many years Kayaks have embraced the works of William Shakespeare and adapted the themes of power, ambition, and jealousy in segmented presentations of his play, Julius Caesar at Shakespeare Mas’. In an effort to teach the play, CHS & M launched an enactment of Acts One through Three of "Julius Caesar” at Belair Park on April 26th  with student player, Shervon Cudjoe, President Stephen Alexander, and Kervin Stiell (as Brutus and Mark Anthony). Harrison Fleary was the narrator. In collaboration with the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Carriacou and Petite Martinique Festivals Board, CHS & M has partnered with ... Read More
