Medoc Mountain's “Habitat Adventure Trail” opened Saturday, May 18 in Halifax County. The new trail offers educational components about the wildlife and habitats at the park for pre-K through middle school-aged children. The trail will also have stations to guide active nature play for all ages.
“We want the park to be more engaging to the surrounding community and to encourage children to be active,” said Joel Jakubowski, superintendent of the park. “This new trail is accessible, educational, and fun. I’m looking forward to everything our young visitors will learn about Medoc Mountain on the new trail.”
Medoc Mountain State Park is located on an elevated site of ancient volcanic activity and includes a fishing creek and a rolling, scenic meadow adjacent to picnic grounds. The park offers hiking, biking, and equestrian trails plus family, group, and equestrian camping areas.
