Hi Friend

I hope you are enjoying spring and all the fun activities that come with this exciting season! I am grateful to be building gardens in the front and side yards and can’t wait to get to designing and developing some outdoor living spaces in the back next! Now for some of you that sounds like work doesn’t it? For those of us that love beautiful gardens and gardening it is part of our fun activities!

The May Real Estate stats were also exciting sales were up in every category except Row housing! Listings were down once again last month which dropped the months of supply on the market and of course increased the ratio of sales to listings. All good steps in the right direction. Prices were adjusted downward once again which will help some people get into the market but isn’t a welcomed stat by sellers. The market overall is pretty balanced and stable right now.

I am including the entire report from CREB.

Enjoy moving into summer and hopefully I will have even better stats for you next month!

Sales activity improves for second consecutive month

bigstock-135930227-800x484.jpg

Sales growth in May was met with a decline in new listings. This combination eased the pressure on inventory levels, which finished the month at 7,467 units, a decline of 12 per cent compared to last year. Improving sales relative to inventory levels caused the months of supply to ease to just under four months. While still oversupplied, this is an improvement from the five months of supply recorded last May.

Citywide sales in May totalled 1,921 units, 11 per cent higher than last year’s levels. However, sales remain 10 per cent below longer-term trends. This sales growth was primarily driven by homes prices under $500,000.

“While sales activity remains low based on historical activity for May, the easing prices have brought some people back to market, while also preventing some others from listing their homes,” said CREB® chief economist Ann-Marie Lurie. “This has started to push the market towards more balanced conditions. If this trend continues, it could limit some of the downward pressure on prices.”

4 Essential Tips for an Indoor Herb Garden

There’s nothing quite like cooking with fresh herbs, and you can’t get fresher than snipping them off the bush seconds before adding them to your dish! Luckily, growing herbs right in your kitchen is relatively easy.

Here are some top tips to get you started and on the right track.

Choose the Right Herbs
Your favourite herb is a good starting point, as you will probably use it the most. If you are looking for low-maintenance options, though, chives, peppermint and parsley are all ideal. Some of the harder herbs to keep going are basil and thyme, so they aren’t the best options for beginners.

Pick a Sunny Spot
As a general rule, you should be growing your herbs somewhere which gets a minimum of 6 hours sunlight per day. It is also a good idea to turn your plants regularly so that they receive the sun’s light evenly.

Ensure Your Plants Drain Properly
If your plants don’t have good drainage, their roots will sit in water—which will lead to them rotting and the plant dying. Additionally, without the right drainage, water could leak onto your countertop (or wherever your plants are) and damage that surface.

Make sure you put your herbs in pots which allow for drainage, and that you place them on a saucer to collect water draining out.

Keep Each Plant Separate
Different herbs will enjoy different soil and levels of watering. In order to give each plant the best care, you should plant them in separate pots.

What herbs do you grow in your kitchen?
