"About Me" Show - Meet the Artist Reception, 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 8

How does artwork define the artist? Forty-seven artists answer that question at the “About Me” Meet the Artists opening Saturday, June 8, 7:30 p.m., at the Falls Church Arts Gallery, 700-B W. Broad St. Exhibiting artists will be there to celebrate.

Seventy-one artworks conveying the artists’ passions and interests will be exhibited at the gallery through July 7. Their written words will accompany the artworks – photography, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, mixed media and lithograph. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You still have a week to do your Plein Air paintings for the 10th Annual Falls Church "Scenes in the City" Plein Air Festival. Competition is June 15 at Harry Wells Park (corner of Park Avenue and Little Falls Street) in the City of Falls Church. Over $5,000 in prizes to be awarded.  Artwork must arrive well before the competition opens at  9:30 am. Artists are encouraged to arrive early as 8:00 am to check in their art while the set-up is in progress.  More parking is available if you arrive early. The popular Falls Church Farmers Market is open from 8:00 am to noon, so many people see your artwork and vote for the People's Choice Award.

We are very pleased to announce that this year's Plein Air Judge is renowned artist Glen Kessler.

Paint as many as you can - 4 artworks can be submitted for the competition, but you are allowed to bring your other, "Scenes in the City" for sale to the public. You will need to provide your own table for display of works not entered in the competition. Sales are all done through Falls Church Arts on site, and the standard donation of 20% of the sale price to FCA helps FCA defray the costs of the Festival.

Remember the Artist Choice award and People's Choice Award are voted upon that day and your attendance and vote is appreciated.
