Apple Basket News.

Hi Everyone, 
This is just a short and sweet newsletter to let everyone know about a couple of classes we have coming up in the near future. 
Life has been very busy here at The Apple Basket with lots of classes and designing for new projects for Symposium coming up at the beginning of October.  Such an exciting time.  Even if you aren't going to do classes at Symposium, make sure you go along to see all the quilts and the merchants as we will all be there in one place, a great opportunity to see all the shops!  Dates for the NZ National Quilt Symposium are 1st - 6th October 2019 and it is being held at St Cuthberts College in Epsom Auckland.  If you want to do classes you will have to register for it.  Find out more at www.quiltsymposium2019.nz

Our next Pfaff Club is on Thursday 20th June 9.30 - 2.00
This month we are going to be making a glasses case with a flexi frame to keep them protected.    Great to give away as a gift as well.  I have used the lovely 3 Ribbon Stitch to attach the plaited ribbon on either side of the colourful strip.  If your machine has this function I will be able to show you how to use it, if not don't despair, we will be able to find something on your Pfaff to use to decorate.  You will also be learning how to do machine applique for those that haven't done this before.

Learn to Sew Your Own Clothes with Corrina McMath

Join us and learn how to sew your own clothes by starting with this wonderful pattern Seoul Blossom Blouse.  We will be starting off with a prep afternoon then a full sewing day.  Corrina is a very experienced seamstress so she will guide you the whole way with her tips and techniques to make it a smooth, stress-free class.

Thursday 13th June  1.30 - 3.30 Prep day and Wednesday 19th June 9.30 - 3.30 Sewing day.

Boro Collage Class with Ngaire Montgomery-Williams

Tuesday 25th June 9.30 - 3.30
Come along and learn this most satisfying hand work.  You will learn how to cut out and place fabrics in a pleasing collage then hand stitch using the Boro Stitching method, and how to make tassels.

Free Motion Machine Quilting with Wendy Oswin

Come along and learn all the tricks of the trade with Free Motion Machine Quilting on your domestic sewing machine 14th June.  Wendy is a very experienced machine quilter and a fantastic teacher - she has the knack of getting things across to people.  So if you want to know how to quilt your own quilts then this would be the class for you.

Knitting Get Together with Corrina McMath

Bring your knitting or choose a new project from the shop (now that would be exciting, there is nothing like starting a new project) and come along and join Corina for our first Knitting Get Together on Thursday 13th June 9.30 - 1.00.  Corrina is a very very experienced knitter so she will have lots of tips, secrets, techniques etc to share with you.  Morning tea will be provided along with tea, coffee, herb tea etc.

Wildflowers Raw Edge Applique Workshop with Ngaire Montgomery-Williams

Come along to this class and learn how to achieve raw edge applique using the free motion foot on your sewing machine. Or alternatively you can do this project by hand using hand embroidery threads. Thursday 4th July 9.30 - 3.30

Busy Bees Catch Up Class

Bring along something you are working on  or choose a project from the many in the shop and spend the day sewing without the interruptions of everyday life. We will be there to help anyone that needs help with their projects.

Cost per class $35.00 includes morning tea - bring your lunch, tea and coffee available.

Monday Sew and Chat Sessions

Come along on a Monday morning or afternoon or both and bring whatever you are sewing and if you need help we are here, if not just sit and sew with like minded people. Yummy morning/afternoon tea provided. 

Every Monday Morning 9.30 - 12.30 (except public holidays) 

Every Monday Afternoon 1.00 - 4.00 (except public holidays)

Cost for each class will be $15.00 per session.

Hand Stitching Days

Get together with like-minded people and pick up tips and techniques without the distraction of everyday life.  Take a day off to do the things you love to do.
