The winter rains have finally arrived on the Swan Coastal Plain and our thoughts turn again to protecting our urban bushland. We now have the details for some great urban bushland focussed events.
In JUNE come to the Nature City Seminar. Come to share information and further understand the knowledge gaps about nature in urban areas in Western Australia.
And then in JULY, participate in the NatureLink Perth Symposium. This is another opportunity to make a difference. How will we enable nature sensitive urban design and make Perth a biodiverse and liveable city into the future?
Nature City Seminar 2019
The Nature City Seminar will be held over 3 days and is being led by Dr Lucy Commander.
The presenters will showcase the latest research and best practice case studies to improve WA’s capacity to manage, enhance, design and connect with nature in urban areas.
The first two days (26 and 27 June) will be at the City of South Perth Community Hall and will consist of formal presentations.
Then the third day (28 June) involves field trips and workshops to further explore the main topics and exchange knowledge and ideas.
Tickets are available at trybooking and are discounted for community members to $50 per day.
NatureLink Perth Symposium
Many of you will have been following the development of NatureLink Perth during 2019 and probably have heard Dr Jane Chambers and her team talk about their project.
NatureLink Perth is an initiative to create a network of people committed to sustaining our world-class biodiversity and engaging in nature sensitive urban design across Perth to the benefit of people, the environment and the economy.
Come to the Symposium! We will discuss and coordinate our efforts for nature sensitive urban design for a biodiverse and liveable city. The day’s success depends on diverse array of stakeholders attending and engaging in the symposium.
It will be highly interactive day. Consequently, you will have many opportunities for networking, providing input on key challenges and coordinating effort in this space. So, please bring your iPad/tablet/smart phone and participate in online polling of key issues.
Tickets are $60, with a concessional rate of $30 for students, unemployed or representatives of ‘friends of’ groups. You can find the program here.
