The Arnold Classic Taekwon-Do Championships was originally introduced to the festival as a member only event, until the co-ordination was taken over by, Global Fitness Institute, some 3 years ago, after having previously been the expo's (previously FitX) major sponsor for 5 years.
With almost 35 years in Taekwondo and participating in many events across the World, it always seemed that everywhere you went people would thrust an affiliation or membership form under your nose, or try and force you to join, or events you were not allowed to join, or friends in other groups could not attend due to politics........I long held the vision that wouldn't it be great to just have a Taekwondo event, where all Taekwondo people could come together and celebrate our art or sport, with no requirement to sign your life away.....
Well, this is that event.
In the 3 years since, thanks to the tremendous support of many of you, the event has grown to such an extent that, in 2019, it was the largest sport at the Arnold Sports Festival Australia. Yes, even bigger than bodybuilding itself, the Festival's traditional premiere event.
The Taekwondo event has been such a successful part of the festival that, in only it's 4th year, we excited to announce that we are organizing the First ever Arnold Classic Taekwon-Do World Championships
With 50,000 - 60,000 members of the public passing through the expo over the weekend, the Taekwondo community has a golden opportunity to showcase our magnificent martial art to a massive public audience on a scale rarely seen before.
Now I know many of you will say, we get bigger numbers at our Organization's event, which is wonderful of course and a credit to the hard work you all do in your respective groups, but all these events are run to a captive audience you already have - here is a chance to reach a new audience, maybe a new market for you and show people how great Taekwondo is....with a touch of Hollywood to boot.
OK Taekwondo people, the time is now, let's band together and show the world the Power of Taekwon-Do.
We've got some of your regular events and we've added some special ones for the purpose of entertainment, as it is a public event, we want to keep the people engaged and interested in what we do, and also continue to evolve and improve as a participant experience that is quite unique from the many championships you may attend as part of your own organizations.
To put your mind at ease, this event is not alligned to any particular Taekwondo body , it is not promoted as 'hosted by' any one school (in fact I don't even run one) - please don't fear or be told that you will be supporting 'the other group' - this event is for all Taekwon-Do people, and sanctioned by the Arnold Sports Festival.
All ages, all ranks, all schools welcome - regardless of affiliation, race or nationality.
This event is 100% politics free
And of course, the Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be present to see Taekwondo in full force. If you have not experienced the excitement that is Arnold-mania, you won't forget this event in a hurry.
