Hello Yogis!

Winter is here!! And it’s a time where we naturally feel a desire to withdraw, snuggle up and lay about. It’s a time of storage, rest and restoration in nature and we are a part of nature so it makes sense that we feel this inward pull.

However I encourage you to continue to come to class and practise throughout Winter - don’t let the fire of your practice go out! I’m planning particularly slow, deep classes to nourish, warm and rejuvenate on every level as the colder weather hits us.

Starting from July each week of the month will have a different philosophical theme and physical body focus (whether muscles, joints, fascia, organs etc) and classes will be designed with the phase of the moon cycle in mind so that our energy is properly harnessed and cultivated according to predominant Yin or Yang energy of that phase. But for Winter think - long, slow movements to recharge, warm and nourish this natural inclination to hibernate as well as some new Mantra and Mudra (hand gestures).

If you stop moving in Winter altogether then stagnation can set in, kapha increases and colds and flu can ripen and flourish - keep it moving people.

I can honestly say that in the past 10 years I’ve maybe been sick twice that I can remember and I attribute that to a daily yoga practice that keeps everything moving through me like swift flowing water.

We’ve begun to use the heater at the hall so it’s nice and toasty when you arrive and have been having a restorative period of guided relaxation at the end of each class imbued with the sacred healing sounds of Mantra. When we adapt our practice to suit the seasons we are truly getting back in touch with the cycles of the universe and our true nature.

I hope to see you this week:
Tues 5-6pm
Thurs 9:30-11am
Fri 9-10:15am
& Sat 7:15-8:15am.

** PLEASE NOTE - MY FRIDAY CLASS ENDS AT THE END OF JUNE - 28TH JUNE IS THE FINAL FRIDAY CLASS! **

And while I feel a sadness at the ending of that class (it was my first ever class I offered) I am onto new and exciting opportunities teaching more on the Yoga Teacher Trainings at Krishna Village with an amazing group of humans but continuing to serve this community in my other three classes that are now well spaced throughout the week and of course my monthly Yin sessions - my heart is full.

Many Blessings

When we bring the light of awareness we can start to see that we are the ones holding ourselves back from what our soul wants to bring to the world!
