A tale I heard

Maurice Sendak, author and illustrator of 'Where the Wild Things Are', on one of his favourite comments from a reader:

"It was from a little boy. I loved it. He sent me a charming card with a little drawing. I loved it. I answer all my children's letters - sometimes very hastily - but this one I lingered over. I sent him a postcard and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, 'Dear Jim, I loved your card.' Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, 'Jim loved your card so much he ate it.' That to me was one of the highest compliments I've ever received. He didn't care that it was an original drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."

A tale I wrote

You barely stick to shit.
‘Post-it’.
What does that even mean?
If I put you in a post-box you wouldn’t get anywhere.
If ‘Post-it’ was written on a Post-it stuck to my head
in that annoying name game I would ask “am I rubbish?”
and people would say “yes” and I would guess “Post-it”.
You are a fleeting thought.
A crap coaster.
The MiniDisc of the paper world.
Why are you the same colour as highlighters?
Glue on the top and bottom makes more sense.
Your curl is not charming.
You are the sound of an impending brainstorm.
You are the result of a failed brainstorm.
“Anyone got any Post-its?”
“No.”
“Good.”
