There will be two meetings next week that will be of general interest.
1. On Tuesday, June 18, the Sonoma County Fire District Board of Directors will hold its first meeting at the Bennett Valley Fire Station at 5:00 pm. Our Fire Chief, Mark Heine, along with firefighters and staff of this newly formed fire district, will attend, as well as the Board of Directors.
The Sonoma County Fire District includes the Bennett Valley Fire District, the Rincon Valley Fire District, the Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, and the Windsor Fire District. The Board of Directors includes Arnie Tognozzi, previously on the Bennett Valley Fire District Board of Directors. One agenda item is always "Open Time For Public Expression (Three-minute time limit)." This is an opportunity for any resident to briefly address the Board on any matter that is not on the agenda.
Items that appear to warrant a more lengthy presentation or Board consideration may be placed on the agenda for a future meeting. You are encouraged to attend and learn what to expect from our new Sonoma County Fire District and Fire Chief Mark Heine.
2. On Thursday, June 20, at 7:00 pm, Captain Warren Davis, a 30-year member of the Berkeley Fire Department, will make a presentation on "Disaster Preparedness" at the Bennett Valley Guild. Captain Davis now lives in Bennett Ridge. He has had experience working the Loma Prieta Earthquake and associated fires, along with numerous disasters over the years. Captain Davis will present his ideas on Wildfire Preparation and Earthquake Preparation. There will be handouts.
