Environmentalists fear 2019 will be one of worst years for deforestation in recent memory
The Guardian: Deforestation of the Brazilian Amazon surged last month to the highest May level since the current monitoring method began, prompting concerns that president Jair Bolsonaro is giving a free pass to illegal logging, farming and mining. "The world’s greatest rainforest – which is a vital provider of oxygen and carbon sequestration – lost 739sq km during the 31 days, equivalent to two football pitches every minute, according to data from the government’s satellite monitoring agency."

Our mission: The Climate Save Movement is a worldwide network of climate action groups aiming to end animal agriculture and transition to a just and vegan, plant-based food system, reforest the Earth and phase out fossil fuels to address the climate emergency.
Animal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions, which can all be eliminated entirely. It is also the leading source of ocean dead zones, deforestation, mass species extinction, and excessive water use. Veganism and reforestation are critical parts of climate actions and, along with eliminating fossil fuels, are our last hope against catastrophic tipping points for our climate.

Besides from collecting large quantities of plastic, we found dead animals such as penguins and gulls. Once again, animals are the first affected by our consumption habits."

The Mirror UK: Eating bacon is 'as likely to cause cancer as ASBESTOS'
Dr Charlotte Houltram, who supports the "Give Bacon The Boot" campaign, said: “Bacon is in the same category as asbestos as far as its potential to cause cancer. Why serve food that can cause life-threatening conditions? Hospitals will argue healthier options are available, but there’s no safe limit with processed meat.”

Augusta GA Health Save had a table at the Holistic Wellness Fair held on June 1 in Aiken, SC, USA. They report: "Lots of good vibes from open-minded people taking plant-based eating and veganism seriously with Health Save Movement & VegFund. And this was topped off with a Vegan Chalk Challenge."

When the animals were unloaded and the truck departed, I went around the side and peered over the fence. The groundsman who usually keeps an eye on me wasn’t there, so standing on my tiptoes I was able to take a few photos of the poor dear animals waiting. There was the occasional anxious mooing, but most of them were very still, pressed up against each other for comfort, heads down."

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy

In 8 years, The Save Movement has grown to over 660 Save groups in 70 countries around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.

Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
