We are devastated to announce the loss of our beautiful puppy, Greyson. We brought Greyson home to join our family the last week of March. He provided Groovy and our family so much joy, hope and happy moments in such a short time. Sadly, Greyson fell ill with pneumonia on May 11th. We did all that we could to save him, but lost Greyson the morning of May 14th.

Update from the Founder:
After the profoundly difficult loss of Greyson, I have been clinging to our girl, Groovy and doing all I can to recover. One of the things that I had been actively focusing on before this occurred, was some important and exciting new projects for SFRAW that require my focus and time outside of the warehouse, as well as efforts to create a healthier work/life balance. Words cannot adequately express the profound impact this loss has had on me personally, but with every crisis, loss or sad ending - there are inevitable new beginnings and so many things, even new things that come to light, to be grateful for. While on temporary leave to work on these professional and personal goals, please know that I am still engaged and actively involved with SFRAW on a continuing and meaningful basis. We have brought on new staff to support us during this time and to participate in our future goals for SFRAW (more on this in a second newsletter, which will go out tomorrow).

Some of you will be pleased to learn that we finally moved our household to the upstairs flat (project on the back-burner for far too long - years!) a project that made a lot of sense after we lost Greyson. It has been very sad doing this without him, but now is a good time, too. Our kitties, Briar and Bones are now fully integrated as siblings, and doing really fabulous. I just cannot believe I am seeing these two kitties happily romping and playing around me as I do chores/move and "spend time at home" -- something I had not made any time to do for many years of working astounding hours. I am incredibly grateful for all the support of the SFRAW family and for incredible staff, and partners, that have continued to do such a wonderful job. In fact, the place looks better than ever, our inventory is robust and, with the new changes, it will become even easier to shop (but mostly easier for them to do their work there). I can't wait to see our planned renovations!
