"A beacon of light in the darkness"
The Duke of Cambridge attends our 25th birthday celebration

We were delighted to celebrate our 25th birthday at a gala dinner last night in the presence of our Royal Patron, The Duke of Cambridge.

The event, at Kensington Palace, honoured Child Bereavement UK’s work helping families to rebuild their lives after the devastation of child bereavement. His Royal Highness, who has been Child Bereavement UK’s Royal Patron since March 2009, met families who are being supported by the charity and made a speech at the dinner.

The Duke said:

“Child Bereavement UK is a truly remarkable organisation. With great sympathy and sensitivity, you have spent the last 25 years working with children, young people and families to help them navigate the difficult path of grief. You shine a beacon of light in the darkness as families learn to live with their loss, and find hope – and laughter – once again.”

At a special fundraising event at Kensington Palace, guests were treated to a wonderful evening with a performance from Strictly Come Dancing’s Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara; impressions from Rory Bremner; an auction hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Jason Watkins; and a set from Gary Barlow and his band, who duetted with Craig David, Rick Astley and Lulu.
