CALL FOR FEEDBACK
Italian Ecomuseums Manifesto Revision

In 2016 Italian ecomuseums have produced a strategic manifesto aimed at contributing to the creation, development, and evolution of ecomuseum experiences that can produce virtuous models of sustainable local development. The goal is a new museology that is increasingly committed to find alternative strategies for local development.

In 2019 the Italian ecomuseums network have started a participation process for the revision of the Manifesto with a first amendment:

[ENG] Amendment 1. The Italian ecomuseums are committed to further promote the goals of safeguarding, caring for and enhancing access to natural, cultural, tangible and intangible heritages, and their role for environmental, social and economic development of communities, the achievement of the 2030 UN Agenda goals for Sustainable Development and climate justice.

Suggestions and insights are welcome by 30th June 2019

Survey on Ecomuseums and Long-term Sustainability

Noah Sandweiss, researcher from the University of Leicester, asks our community to take part to a survey to study the answers of the ecomuseums from climate change and other sustainability issues.

The project is partly inspired by the aims of the 2019 EU-LAC Forum, as well as a recent survey of ecomuseum participation in biodiversity projects. DEADLINE 2019 JULY 6.

PROJECTS

The Ecomuseum of Amazonia (Brasil)

The coordinator Maria Terezinha Resende Martins, wrote us about the Ecomuseum of Amazonia: “The Ecomuseu da Amazônia, in the periphery of the city of Belém, capital of the State of Para, is attached to a Public Educational Foundation, the "Escola Bosque", situated in a typical rainforest environment, in one of the semi-urban satellites areas of Belém."

MONITORING

Monitoring Ecomuseums. The State-of-the-art in Lombardy (Italy)

The Lombardy Region has recently closed the monitoring of ecomuseums started in 2017. It was a hard job. There are now 35 ecomuseums in Lombardy. Before the monitoring there were 44. The regional decisions are a real demonstration of the seriousness of the administration of the regional law. Denying official recognition only after a careful inspection and a six-month wait for feedback is methodologically correct.

Sad information about Sven Lindqvist

René Binette, Director of the Écomusée du Fier Monde (Montreal, Canada) wrote us on Sven Lindqvist and Quebec: "Thanks to Le Devoir for informing the readers on the decease of Swedish writer, Sven Lindqvist. I want to testify to an aspect undoubtedly misunderstood of his life; its links with certain Quebec museums and the influence they have had on him."
