June 13, 2019
Dear friends and partners,

For the past two years serving on the LA Unified Board of Education and representing the families of Board District 4, every day and every decision in our work has started with a promise to put kids first.

Check out the progress we've made for our students in this year's BD4 Impact Report.

We have made progress on our priorities by building new coalitions and soliciting community input. We have worked hard to ensure that we can hear from every stakeholder, no matter their viewpoint or disagreements. We have stayed true to our values in the face of opposition, opting always to do what is right over what is easy.

As I told thousands of graduates this year—change is hard, but possible. And it starts by showing up. So, as long as I’m in a position to make a positive impact on the students of LA Unified, I will show up every day to do just that. Take a look at what we’ve achieved this year, together.

Onward,
Progress Report: An Update on our Policy Priorities
Last year, we laid the groundwork to champion fiscal reform, engage our communities to serve their diverse needs, and expand educational opportunities for our students. Take a look at our progress so far!
Our Community Impact: Helping our Students & Schools Thrive
With nearly 60,000 students in 152 schools across 80 square miles—there is no school concern too large or bureaucratic obstacle too small for my team and I to help tackle so that our kids can learn and grow in a safe environment with the resources they need to thrive. Check out just a few of the projects we have funded and problems we have solved this year!
Our Impact: By the Numbers
Congrats Grads!
Celebrating Culminations throughout Board District 4
We exist to give every student in LA Unified the opportunity to succeed. Graduation celebrations represent the culmination of that success, and I was thrilled to cheer on graduates at more than 15 ceremonies—from elementary, middle, high school, options, foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, and parent grads!
