Epping Forest CSP doubles funding earmarked for
domestic abuse alarms

The Epping Forest Community Safety Partnership has match-funded the financial boost given to fund domestic abuse alarms in the district after police volunteer Tony Ellis give his Police Fire and Crime Commissioner's award prize money to the initiative.

Mr Ellis received £300 for a local initiative of his choice when he was announced as the runner-up in the awards.

Mr Ellis has worked in policing across the Epping Forest district for more than 50 years.

He is based at Ongar Police Station where he works as an Active Citizen volunteer running the national Problem Solvers initiative, and also works with Epping Forest Community Safety Partnership voluntarily as a crime prevention advisor.

The alarms will be available to victims of domestic abuse in the district through the Epping Forest District Council Careline service.

Community Safety Partnership lead officer Caroline Wiggins said: "This is a fantastic acknowledgement of the work Tony carries out helping to protect the vulnerable in our district and the Community Safety Partnership want to endorse it by match funding the award and provide £600 for domestic abuse alarms.”
