Hi foodie friends and home cooks! We are now entering that awkward period when our spring crops start to fizzle out - due to a combination of them already being in the ground for a while, increased pest pressure, and oh yeah, cool season crops don't like hot weather - but before most of our summer crops are producing their fruits. We could have planted the summer crops earlier in March or April so they'd be ready now, but that just seemed too big a gamble with the wild swings in temperature that have become all too common.
So, we'd like to express our thanks in advance for your patience if we have a dwindling amount of produce at markets for the next couple weeks. This week we still have what is listed below (including super fresh and crunchy cabbage as pictured below - great in slaws!) and do not fear - very soon you'll be seeing beans, okra, potatoes, eggplant, sweet peppers, melons and nine varieties of tomatoes. Almost ready Striped Armenian cucumbers and Sungold tomatoes (two market favorites) are in the photos below...they'll be ready to pick soon!
Hope to see you at market tomorrow or Sunday.
Thank you for supporting your local farmers!
