Yet, sporken a little differently here.
Newsletter June 2019
“Kids, the man you prayed for is healed.”
“Dad, look at this giant termite.”
“But this man was deaf in one ear. You helped pray and now he can hear.”
“But dad, did you ever see a bug THIS BIG?”
It was wonderful seeing the kids just jump right into ministry. They participated in the skits, in the 2 musicals, running sound, singing a solo, dancing, praying for people afterwards. They had so much fun they didn’t want to leave and are begging us to return.
Everyone was impressed by Samantha and Timothy
Discipleship Training School (DTS)
In January we held a Discipleship Training School with only 3 wonderful students. Then in April they began their 6-week outreach to Asia. First they had a wonderful time of ministry in Singapore and then my family joined them in Thailand. At first, I had assumed that it would only be Timothy and I going, but many faithful supporters sent exactly what we needed and so all four of us were able to go.
Team in Chiang Dao
City Gate Church in Chiangmai
We did a few work projects, performed and preached at City Gate Church, and then went to minister at 3 of their daughter churches. At Pradu Din in ChiangDao we attended the 2 year anniversary celebration of their church building. In fact, 2 years ago we led a team from Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church to help build that church.
The Church Built by FEPC
We had a wonderful time with the older folks at a home for the elderly. They were all smiles and sang along with us.
At Huay Bpong we prayed for a lot of people and one man claimed that after we prayed for him, he could suddenly hear with his right ear. It was great seeing my kids come alongside and pray for people. It seemed strange to me that they were more fascinated with the large bugs in the room than the miracle they had just witnessed. To be fair, our family gets to see a lot of miracles, so I guess it’s mundane for the kids by now.
Huay Bpong Praying. We didn't get a picture of the man who was healed.
Ban Mai Sii Lang
A few years ago we met a woman who had never learned to read, prayed for an ability to read and God miraculously gave her that gift. It was hard on her eyes though, so I gave her my reading glasses.
Many people asked us to pray for them
Musekee Friendship Village
Samantha and Timothy really didn’t want to leave that wonderful place.
Musekee Friends
We spent a lot of time with the kids at the Karen Hostel, and also did ministry at the nearby schools. Flexibility is always important on outreach – you have to be ready for anything. For example, at one school we were told we’d be playing games with elementary kids and then performing for 7th – 12th graders. When we got there we discovered we had the older kids. Half way through our performance of Women at the Cross we were told to finish by 10 am as there would be a different group of kids coming.
Numerous Performances
We cut the show in half and at 10am we said, “Ok, now what?” They said, “You have these kids till noon. Keep going.”
Haha. That’s just the kind of thing that happens a lot when you do ministry in Thailand. Our team were real troupers and pulled out everything in their arsenal to keep the teenagers engaged for the rest of the morning.
Gourmet Food in Musekee
One of the days, our hosts invited all of the pastors and leaders who live in the region to a seminar. In the morning Tori Beth taught, then Art (Dad) taught on Hearing the voice of God and the in the afternoon, I taught on Spiritual Warfare. It was very well received.
Pastors Seminar: They gifted us tribal bags
One evening, we ministered at a church and a woman we were praying for, swooned. I gently laid her down. We kept praying. When she came to she said that she had gone to the throne room of Jesus and He said that He was, “Giving her grace, and that everything would be alright.” She stood up and then said that all the pain in her knees and legs was gone. Then she danced for us.

Phitsanulok
We couldn’t miss the opportunity to spend time with Taa, our church planter friend. He took us to several places to preach, pray, prayer walk and spend time with different groups of wonderful people.
Visiting a House Church
One highlight was the evening we spent with the pastor of a church that has been closed and overgrown by jungle for 5 years. The new pastor had only been there a week, and had already pushed back the jungle and cleaned up the building. We spent a long time praying for him and over the new ministry that was being born in that city. There was a small group of believers that have been meeting and praying for their city since the church closed 5 years ago. After praying, we had dinner with them. (They provided the noodles, I provided the bags of fried bugs, bamboo grubs and squid.)
Church Planter Taa, is a great leader!
Conclusion
Samantha and Timothy celebrated their birthdays there and were very glad they did as they got to go to fun places in ChiangMai to celebrate. In one month, it seemed like they both grew up a whole year.
Birthday River Rafting!
Our students Debbie, Alexandra, and Cherilyn also matured into young missionaries during our trip. It was one of the best trips we have been on because there wasn’t any complaining when the electricity/water went out or when other frustrating things happened.
Fantastic Students
I really have no idea how many times we performed our 2 musicals “Women at the Cross” and “Chains,” but it was probably about 4 times a week. The students gave their testimony numerous times and I preached around 6 times. Samantha and Timothy participated in numerous skits and plenty of other ministry. Also, we prayed for a large number of people who came forward after the sermons. So, yes it was a busy outreach and we are glad for a break.
This is fun. You should try it.
Support
We are so grateful for the people God has put in our lives! Please stay in touch and let us know your prayer needs as well!
In Gratitude,
