People I am FINE. Thank you for all the concerned notes but I'm not totally sure what I said that was so alarming apart from sharing my totally rock-solid bedtime routine. Yes, I do talk about sleep a lot, and I think about it a lot. It's very in vogue actually. Here's a recent article that was sent my way on rekindling the joy of slumber if you want to get on my level.

All good though, I will refrain from any sleep-related discussion from hereoin in. That means you now have to deal with my thoughts on package tracking messages. These have gone too far. I don't need this many sms notifications to know exactly the journey that my kids melatonin tablets are on (last sleep reference, I promise). And as much as I love everything Apple does and will defend them to the end, knowing that TODAY IS THE DAY! that I will at long last receive a USB-C dongle just makes me feel weird. I mean, Apple products are great, but there are also many other things I am looking forward to on any given day. I'm just saying that with their smart technology maybe there can be some sort of sense of emotional scale with the shipping notifications.

Here's one notification you will want though - This newsletter! And the amazing art contained within it.

TODAY IS THE DAY!

The Week

Highlights from our Instagram

State Insurance called upon Craig & Karl who worked with Colenso BBDO to illustrate an array of keyframes for a new campaign, then it was over to Flutter who brought it all to life!

This view over the festival was illustrated by Jess Cruickshank for Hour Detroit Magazine’s article ‘Exploring Dearborn’s Late-night Food Scene During Ramadan’.

Last month we introduced you to our new JW swag for 2019, and now we have these stunning silk screened boxes designed by Kate Banazi to nestle it all in!

Please welcome the newest release from Lamington Drive and Clemens Habicht, the 540 colours sphere puzzle!

The Podcast

While we’re taking our little podcast break we thought we’d bring you a JWGYTB throwback! This week we’re heading back to Episode 49 with Andrew Fairclough, where we go through our open tabs and discuss the Firefox Rebrand, Anonymous reporting on Artist Payments, and the dreaded imposter syndrome.

“There’s no magic talent here, it's hard work and it’s getting things wrong 50 times until it’s right.”

// Andrew Fairclough

Each week on our podcast we dissect three links we’ve come across our internet travels. These are jumping off points for what’s shaping issues, processes and happenings in the creative industries today. To find our more about our IRL open tabs events, visit opentabs.rodeo

We’re chatting about Firefox’s controversial rebrand

And we look at the anonymous reports of artist’s payments through artslog.

Then we admit to the fact that nobody knows what the hell they are doing.

The Gallery

Lamington Drive is an exhibition space, art school and a great way to meet other artists. Feeling lonely? Come to a show!

Lamington Drive Residency

2019’s Lamington Drive Residency has officially begun! LDR operates in two parts – 4 emerging illustrators and image-makers will work in-residence at the gallery for a duration of 8 weeks, encouraging on-site production and exploration (which will be open to the eyes of the public throughout).

This is followed by a dedicated group exhibition of the finished work created in that time, opening mid August.

Come down to the gallery between 11-6pm Wednesdays through Fridays and 12-5 Saturdays to check out what our residents are getting up to!

The above artwork is by current LD resident April Phillips.

The Gardens

Clear the mind. Feed the process. Jacky Winter Gardens is a creative retreat nestled in a half-acre of natural bushland only 45 minutes from Melbourne. It’s a perfect getaway for solo travellers, couples and small groups.

"Everything is made out of Magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people. So it must be all around us."
