Theme ting!

Announcing our out-of-this-world theme for Microburn 2019: CELESTIAL BODIES

The idea is retro-futurism: think spaced-out hippies floating around a 60s/70s sci-fi utopia, complete with sexy psychedelic space-wear (silver catsuits and fishbowl helmets abound), funky extraterrestrials and ray guns galore. Not your usual space-related theme, this will be colourful, sparkly and kitsch-as-hell!

It would be great to see lots of artworks, costumes, workshops and performances that tie in with the theme! We've put together a pinterest board to get the ideas flowing. Let us know if you have any ideas or would like to get involved!

Low-income update

We've had lots of low-income membership applications and will be closing applications on Saturday 15th June 12PM midday.

If you have applied for a low-income membership and not heard back yet, be patient with us. Your low-income committee are working hard to get through the applications as quickly as they can. Hold tight!

What's this all about then?
If you're on a low-income, we have a limited number of reduced-rate memberships available. Applications are considered on a rolling and first-come, first-serve basis. Apply here.

Recipients of low income memberships will be provided with a code to purchase their lower-rate membership. This is a single use code for personal use only. Apply the code before selecting membership type to reveal the low income option and then make your purchase. Enter the code in the 'use a promotion code' field. Kitchen memberships are an additional purchase.

Adopt a Space

If you'd like to either bring a structure (bell tent, dome, etc.) to be used as a public space, or adopt and run one of the site’s existing spaces, excellent news! Let us know your jam here.

We're looking for people to adopt, decorate, and make use of the spaces on-site for the duration of the event, and will give preference to plans that involve interactivity and encourage participation from all visitors. If you are actually looking for a space in which to hold workshops or other events then please fill in the Ents and Workshops submission form instead.

Applications must be made by the end of Friday 21st June, soon after which decisions will be made by the Placement Team and all applicants informed. If there are still existing spaces available to be adopted after this process has concluded, then we will continue to accept applications and make decisions on an ad hoc basis, up until the end of August.

Art art art!

Do you have an idea for an art project you'd like to make reality? Test-run your dreams in the Welsh hills! Grants are available for a limited number of art, decor and performance projects. The first deadline for submission is coming up on 14th June and the second 1st AugustApply here.

Second Memberships Wave

MicroBurn memberships have never before sold out in one day - so we were as surprised as you were when we did this year! We know it was disappointing news for many of you, but with a site capacity of 175 and a growing community, it's inevitable that some will sadly miss out in the memberships sale.

But fear not! There's still options.

1. Second wave
Once low-income applications have wrapped up and leads have sorted their sh*t out (we did keep some back for the current crew without whom the event wouldn't happen), we'll be able to release any remaining memberships in a second sale.

This will take place on Wednesday 17th July at 17:30, after Nowhere and before Borderland for you EuroBurners!

2. Transfers
Transferring standard memberships between one another is easier than ever this year and can be done directly through Quicket. Keep your eyes peeled for the inevitable drop-outs nearer the time.

[Low-income membership transfers need to go through the low-income committee: there's likely to be a wait list].

MicroBurn Resources

Our community is growing and there's been whispers and dreams brewing to start more burns.

MicroBurn has a shared Google folder jam packed with resources and learning from over the years. It's open for all to access and use, here.

Until next time,
