Friday Family Fun

This Friday is the first of two fun events in Sunset Park this summer. Hosted by the LCMA, this event has something for everyone!

Starting at 5:30 pm there will be live music from That Eighties Band, back by popular demand! You can dance 'til you're hungry and then get dinner from Barnyard Food Truck. They'll have a variety of tacos and hot sandwiches with potato and veggie sides; check them out on Facebook! Barnyard accepts cash and credit to make it easy.

For dessert, or maybe just to cool down, buy yourself and the kids a scoop from Rocket Ice Cream's pop-up shop. They'll have vanilla, Space Junkie (black raspberry ice cream with brownies and marshmallows), and Astroid Chocolate (chocolate ice cream with brownie and fudge swirls). 

We'll start the movie about 8:30 pm on our big outdoor screen and enjoy relaxing together as the sun goes down. Mary Poppins Returns is a brand new release and promises to be lots of fun for everyone. 

It's time to get out your picnic blankets and low camp chairs and celebrate summer with your neighbors. See you Friday!

New Silver Ropes Volunteer Corps Forms

In May of 1987, the Lowry Air Force Base Chaplains launched the Silver Ropes program to give the young Air Force men and women enlisted at Lowry the opportunity to engage in a wide range of service projects both within Chapel #1 and also out in the community. The Silver Rope aiguillette was worn with pride by members who participated as ushers, lectors, choir members and in activities throughout the Denver community.

In celebrating the 25th Silver Anniversary of the decommissioning of Lowry AFB this year, the Lowry Foundation has revived the Silver Ropes Corps to help organizations in need and build stronger community involvement across all segments of Lowry. Volunteering helps build a stronger community throughout Lowry and provides valuable service to neighborhood residents and beyond. 

Volunteering with the Silver Ropes Corps is an opportunity to do something new and interesting and to learn new skills. You can work to address a community need; to make an impact; and to create friendships that can last a lifetime.
