July 4 Outreach & Fundraising
Why participate in these July 4 Activities?

MSMAP annually participates in MOUNT SHASTA'S 4TH OF JULY FUN RUN & WALK with a martial arts demonstration and other activities. Since 2008, this proves to be both a wonderful opportunity to take part in this great local event and to show the community what we're all about.

Year after year, the feedback is overwhelmingly positive:   People see the incredible benefits of our program as the MSMAP discipline, respect, and work ethic shines through.

Participation is Important.   How important? As a non-profit providing the golden trifecta -- the most exceptional martial arts instruction, facilities, and curriculum in Siskiyou County -- MSMAP exists only because of the support, dedication, and sweat of volunteers such as yourself.

How to Help

As repeatedly announced over the past few weeks, MSMAP has two major outreach and fundraising activities on the morning of July 4th. Your help is essential because MSMAP can only offer its exceptional instruction, facilities, and curriculum through the contributions of volunteer participation.

Taekwondo Volunteers

Fun Walk & Run.   Team Leaders (Jesse, Rowan, and Elias) need the Tiny Tigers and Taekwondo Teens to show up -- in CLEAN UNIFORMS -- and demonstrate forms and pre-arranged sparring during the FUN WALK in front of thousands of people. Wear lightweight shoes (no flip-flops). Use sunscreen. Bring snacks and water.
WHERE: In front of the hospital
WHEN: by 8am

NOTE: Roads close before 7am. Plenty of parking is available in the hospital parking lot. Plan your driving and parking accordingly.

Yongmudo Volunteers

5K Race Water Station.   Thanks to Eli Jones (again!), the yongmudo crew is needed at Water Station #3 for the 5K race (the "CHP Curve" on the west side of the Lake Street I-5 overpass). Yongmudo volunteers are needed to hand out water cups -- and maybe spray a few runners with the water hose.
WHERE: Lake St. I-5 Overpass
WHEN: 7:45am

NOTE: Roads close before 7am. Parking is available in the hatchery parking lot. Plan your driving and parking accordingly.

We appreciate your interest and participation on such a busy holiday! Learn more on our website:

July 4 Outreach Information
Why participate in these July 4 Activities?

Short story.   MSMAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. MSMAP continues offering year-round, dynamic, healthy activities because of three reasons: volunteers, fundraising, and outreach.

For events like this, everyone's help is needed and greatly appreciated!

Volunteers are Essential

Chew on this: MSMAP instruction is provided on a volunteer basis -- ALL YEAR LONG. Each of those hours of instruction are volunteer hours and FREELY GIVEN FOR YOUR BENEFIT. Returning the favor and giving a couple of your hours on the 4th of July to a great cause isn't asking very much, yet it's a huge help keeping our community's longest established and most dynamic martial arts activity program going strong.

Fundraising is Essential

As a non-profit dedicated to providing so much throughout the year -- high quality instruction, modern facility, proven curriculum -- your answering the occasional call for help ensures that MSMAP continues offering so much for so little.

Outreach is Essential

MSMAP operates on a bare-bones budget that just manages to cover rent, utilities, maintenance; compensation for instruction isn't even in the equation. Outreach activities like this enable the public to see how awesome MSMAP participants are, encourages people to be part of something fantastic, and helps offset the minimal budget.

MSMAP's Volunteer & Outreach FAQ

We totally get it.   It seems like we're asking for a lot. However, consider what you get for a few token hours of your help: the most experienced and varied instruction in the community; a state-of-the-art facility; and a proven, consistent year-round progressive curriculum. All of this at literally pennies per hour.

This is not accomplished by accident:   it takes volunteers and hard work -- intelligent planning and correct execution -- to make this all happen.

Learn more.   Like any non-profit, MSMAP continues because of the generous help of volunteers for fundraising, outreach, and other important events. Check out our Volunteer & Outreach FAQ on our website for many more details on how events like this fit into MSMAP's bigger picture.
