Disabled Refugees Welcome (DRW) är ett treårigt projekt som drivs av Independent Living Institute (ILI) och som finansieras av Allmänna Arvsfonden. Projektets främsta syfte är att skapa nya och effektiva metoder som ökar möjligheten till en ömsesidig integration, ett bättre och tillgängligt mottagande av migranter med normbrytande funktionalitet. DRW cooperation meeting with Svenska kyrkan

The DRW project was presented with its current results and then Elna Wahlgren Lundqvist spoke about how the Church of Sweden is working with the refugees. The Church of Sweden has 6.1 million members and is open to everyone living in Sweden regardless of nationality and religion. Läs mer

Disabled Refugees Welcome at Järvaveckan 2019

Disabled Refugees Welcome project participated in the Järvaveckan for the first time from the 12th of June until the 16th of June. Järvaveckan is about reducing the distance between people and elected representatives. The living hub of Järvaveckan is a great meeting place for community engagement. Companies, associations, authorities, organizations, politicians and citizens are invited to create dynamic meetings and conversations between community actors and citizens - both from the area of Järva and from the rest of the city of Stockholm as well from the whole country of Sweden. DRW deltog i Funktionsrätt Stockholms Län seminarium under Järvaveckan

Jamie Bolling fick möjlighet att presentera DRW som projekt och den bild som projektet har samlat från de berättelser av över 80 migranter med normbrytande funktionalitet. De flesta möter hinder för att få tillgång till vård och sociala insatser som de är i behov av. Läs mer

DRWs kvinnogrupp har träffats

Första dagen pratade gruppen om empowerment och vad som behövs för att känna att man har egenmakt. Yesi, Jamie och Rahel berättade sina historier om att känna sig empowered. Gruppen var överens om att utan tillgång till de stöd som behövs kan empowerment försvinna. Läs mer

Meet DRW interns

Brooke Antol: I was able to interact with numerous individuals in the office. This has allowed me to gain a well-rounded understanding of how ILI and DRW function.
Caitlyn Thurbur: I’ve been able to have many amazing opportunities to work with ILI, DRW, project participants. I’ve worked on some legislation mapping about Sweden and specifically the asylum-seeking process and laws regarding what resources are available to asylum seekers while in Sweden. Läs mer

DRW väcker opinion

Under 2019 kommer DRW att turnera för att bilda opinion och höja medvetenheten om livsvillkoren för migranter med normbrytande funktionalitet. DRWs team kommer att delta på Järvaveckan, MR dagarna, Almedalen och Hälsomässan i Rinkeby med tema rätten till hälsa och integration på lika villkor. Mer information följer inom kort.
