Vacation Bible School at Chapel in the Pines

Our sisters and brothers at Chapel in the Pines welcome us to share a special "retreat style" Vacation Bible School with them, July 12-14. The entire structure of the Presbyterian Church is built around congregations being "connected" with one another like important parts of a human body. Don't miss this tremendous opportunity to become more acquainted with our fellow Presbyterians and experience the larger church of Christ beyond the scope of any one congregation!  Click here for more info and to register.

Lemonade on the Lawn

Sign up to bring lemonade and cookies for the lawn after Sunday worship in July and August. The sheet is on the table in the hallway.

Theological issues include the Bible, God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.  Please join us in learning about what we believe.

PPC's Summer Kick-Off Celebration on June 30th

photos by Pamela Prentice

A Note from the Pastor

Summer is a good time to relax and rejuvenate in preparation for the other busy times of the year. As many pastors joke, church attendance can be up and down…as people go “up” to the mountains and “down” to the beach. This pastors says that’s quite alright, and I’ll be taking several weeks of vacation and study leave this summer as well. Nevertheless, worship at PPC is something we do not want to miss. Rev. Carrie Tuttle will be preaching July 7th and August 4th at 10am. Rev. Dr. Jeff Kisner is a university level biblical scholar and pastor and will be preaching July 21st at 10am.

Last month I asked people during pastoral visits: how do we truly relax? Bob Allen, Betty Wilson and Shirley Lindley each indicated that they feel immediately more relaxed and connected to God when the look out upon their gardens. Jean Fesperman recommends reading, and is currently enjoying the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross.

Remember that Pittsboro Presbyterian Church is not a building…we are a people. This means that when you travel, the body of Christ (the church) extends with you to be restored and gain new perspectives. Feel free to visit a congregation very different than you would normally attend, for every denomination and congregation has something authentic from Christ to share (but please DO come back!). A member recently shared that a funeral at a very different congregation was “a true celebration” and how wonderful it would be to have such unabashed joy at their own send-off. One of our three mission words is SEEK. So let us SEEK God wherever our summer takes us, and make sure to come back and SHARE with one another our many glimpses of God!
