Sustainability Improvements for Gen Con 2019
|
|
We love putting on the largest gathering of tabletop gamers in North America each year, but with big numbers comes big responsibility, so we're making changes to cut down on waste and reduce the ecological impact of The Best Four Days in Gaming!
These are some of the sustainability improvements we're making for Gen Con 2019:
100% of show signage for this year's convention will be printed on recyclable cardboard.
27,000 sq. ft. of vinyl table coverings replaced by linens and recyclable paper.
Reusable cups at all concessions stands in the ICC — featuring Genevieve!
When you purchase beverages at any of the convention center concession stands during the show this year, they'll be served in a durable, reusable cup. A $3 deposit will be added to your first beverage purchase, and your cup can be reused throughout the convention. Then, either keep the cup, or return it at an r.Cup return station for a full refund of your deposit.
Returned cups will be sterilized and reused at future conventions, or upcycled into different products. This will save 24,000 concessions cups from ending up in the landfill this year!
