Reimagining Dispute Resolution at the Commission

We are undertaking a first principles look at how disputes might be handled at the Commission and want you to tell us what you think the future of dispute resolution services offered at the Commission should look like.

We're keen to change things up and are interested in your views. This is a first principles review of our dispute resolution services.

The consultation covers everything from how technology can help sort out online problems, whether more services should be on offer, through to the type of disputes that should be heard at the Commission.

We are also consulting in different ways to try and gather as many views as possible. You can send us your views by email or post, complete a short 5-10 minute survey and attend a co-design process workshop in Wellington and Auckland.

DNCL and InternetNZ AGM

DNCL AGM:

On Thursday 25 July at 4pm the DNCL will hold its Annual General Meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend the AGM. The AGM will take place at the InternetNZ offices in Wellington. Level 11, 80 Boulcott Street.

International Outreach

The Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network met on June 3-5 in Berlin.

The Commission has been supporting the work of the Network during the past couple of years. This includes providing input into the development of an operational paper which frames the issues and suggested approaches to co-operation regarding domain name suspensions and cancellations on a global scale.

At the Conference key findings on the world’s first Internet & Jurisdiction Global Status Report was also released. The report analysed cross border legal challenges related to territoriality, relevance of court decisions, regulation of cyberspace and responsibility of intermediaries.

ICANN65 Marrakech

The second meeting of the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers ICANN was held in Marrakech.

The Commission is actively involved in the work of the Country Code Names Supporting Organisation, in particular, the working group examining the policy for the retirement of a country code top-level domain.

A new look for the Commission and website refresh

The Commission has a new look which aligns with InternetNZ’s brand family refresh. It features an abstract image of the North and South Islands.

In rolling out the new logo and branding, we’ve also used the opportunity to include some new features on our website. It is now easier to find a .nz domain name, and you don’t have to complete the re-captcha for a simple domain name availability search. We also added a new site search bar.
