THIS MONTH AT THE VOICEOVER GALLERY

This month we attended the Media Production Show at Olympia London, handily just around the corner from our Blythe Road studio.

The event has been held since 2016 and offers people from every area of the production industry the chance to meet, network and showcase the best talent and newest technology.

Taking place across two days, the event is chock-full of exhibitors and hosts plenty of seminars from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Pinewood Studios, AVID technology and the team behind the sound editing on Rocketman (sadly, there were no live performances from Elton himself, maybe next year...)

There was also plenty of chat surrounding future media, diving into the scary (but exciting) world of artificial intelligence and augmented reality, a topic particularly of note to the voiceover world with recent developments relating to deepfakes. If you’ve missed the press around deepfakes, they’re essentially fake images or videos made to look scarily real with the use of AI.

That’s our roundup of MPS19, made up of Elton John and AI, stay tuned on the newsletter in the next few months as we’ll be delving into deepfakes and AI even more.

FEATURED VOICES

Meet Virge. Virge has a natural RP voice with an assuring and clear tone that’s perfect for corporate reads and a warm and friendly quality that’s ideal for ‘legalese’ and commercial scripts.

Virge has been voicing for over 25 years, getting her start on local radio, building up a voice reel and gaining experience with a number of big clients. During her time as a VO, Virge has worked with brands such as Volvo and Thomas Cook, and was even the Diet Coke voice for a bit!

Virge is also an actress, with credits including Four Weddings and a Funeral and Chucklevision! ‘I love the jobs that give me a chance to combine acting talents with voice work. Reading bedtime stories to my sons was also surprisingly helpful for character voices!’

We had a lucky break this month with our numbers coming up… that’s right, we will be the regional voice of the National Lottery!

From September, you’ll be able to hear several of our regional UK voices, from Scotland to Yorkshire and Liverpool to Wales announcing the lucky numbers.
