June 2019   Spiritual astrology: The seer experiencing the solar system

The spiritual research of Rudolf Steiner into the influences of the planets on human nature, allows us to deepen what has been preserved of the ancient star-wisdom, in regards to horoscope interpretation. A report exists of a delightful comment from Rudolf Steiner that he had danced in the ‘circle-dance of the planets’. Words that resonate with fascinating implications ! An indication of what his ‘dancing’ amidst the swirling planets revealed to him, can be glimpsed in his many lectures. In a lecture from 1923, he speaks of how the soul of the planet Venus is focused on the Earth, and  ‘listens’ sensitively to the soul-life of humanity. His words about this inner listening gives us a feeling for what he experienced:

The soul of the planet Venus gazes deeply into the heart of all the people on Earth...so what lives so intimately in the human soul is to be found again in Venus (by the seer, contemplating the solar system) …Venus takes up all of what which lives in the hearts of humanity, and transforms this into dream-images.  (GA 228 27. July 1923)

This gentle, sensitive, ‘inner listening’ quality of Venus, is actually reflected in the qualities of the human soul, depending upon how Venus is placed at a person’s birth-hour. For example, if in a horoscope, Venus is placed in a good angle to the Moon, (called a ‘trine’), then the inner listening of Venus radiates into that person’s etheric body, with the result that the person is gentle and harmonious, and has finely developed emotions and sensory perception. This person can also perceive the subtle soul-beauty present in the auras of evolved people.
