AUGUST 2019 NEWSLETTER
As expected, with bank holidays meetings, the turnout was lower than normal and with regular drummers Peter and Malcolm unable to make the meeting, we had our one man band Neil doing a fantastic job on drums.
Our numbers were increased with a visit from Robin Giles and his partner who are members of the Bournemouth Shadows club. Robin quickly fitted in with the band and with his backing tracks showed that he is an experienced and very competent player. They would be welcome to visit us any time they’re visiting relations in he Paignton area.
We do need to get some more photos as many of ours are quite dated. Please feel free to take photos and forward them to me for inclusion in the newsletter and website.
One of the “benefits” of fewer members is we all got to, play more than our usual 3 + 2 numbers. Despite this I can’t remember hearing Kon Tiki.

We also tried a slightly different “layout”  The hotel had placed tables right across the window (see the photo of Robin) so rather than shift them we placed all the amps and PA speakers on the tables. This made adjustments easier as no one had to bend down to do so and we all agreed the sound was just as good as normal, so we may try this again. It also saves having to transport the rather cumbersome PA speaker stands.

Despite the slightly lower turnout we still had sufficient players and visitors to cover our hotel fees for the day, which is always encouraging.. We look forward to seeing everyone again next month.
