ECP OpenMP Hackathons

July 22-26  |  Oak Ridge, TN, USA
Aug 27-30  |  NERSC, Berkeley, CA, USA

ECP SOLLVE, in conjunction with ORNL and NERSC, are organizing two OpenMP Hackathons in July and August. We encourage participation of teams interested in using OpenMP to port and optimize their applications on GPUs, and use OpenMP for energy-efficient processor architectures.
  • July 22-26, Oak Ridge Nat'l Lab (Oakridge, TN): Use OpenMP to port and optimize applications on GPUs. We will target porting codes to Summit. No longer accepting new proposals.

  • Aug 27-30, Nat'l Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (Berkeley, CA): Use OpenMP to port and optimize applications for energy-efficient processor architectures. We are especially interested in application teams that are part of ECP or who want to improve the use of OpenMP tasks in their code  We are now accepting submissions for the event: Proposal deadline is June 28, 2019

Workshop on Accelerator Programming Using Directives

WACCPD 2019 will be hosted by SC19 in Denver, Colorado. It is one of the major forums at SC to bring together programming model users, developers and tools developers. They accept submissions in a variety of topics and their call for papers has a deadline of August 22, 2019.

Openings for TACC Summer 2019 Interns

TACC has summer internships open for students with skills in C/C++, Java, Java EE, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, & parallel programming (MPI/OpenMP/CUDA). Contact Ritu Arora for details. On Twitter @ritzaa2. At TACC: https://www.tacc.utexas.edu/about/directory/ritu-arora

Preparing OpenMP Applications for Exascale Computing

Several OpenMP programs running on Summit were developed during a recent ECP SOLLVE hackathon at BNL. The teams worked on porting their scientific applications from CPUs to GPUs and optimizing them using OpenMP. The teams' applications included nuclear and high-energy physics, lasers and optics, materials science, autonomous systems, and fluid mechanics. Read more about it in this article.
