Fishcare Victorias Litter Warriors Project a great success!! 
The Litter Warriors project delivered incursions and excursion activities directly related to marine litter and their impacts within Port Phillip Bay. Educational resources specific to the impacts of litter in Port Phillip Bay were developed including props, videos, resource sheets and online learning resources. This project was funded through the Port Phillip Bay Fund Round 2.

Spider Crab Migration

Each year in Port Phillip Bay, there has been an increasing awareness of the incredible migration of the Spider Crabs around the Piers of the south eastern side of the bay. There is little known about why specifically Port Phillip Bay or why this time of year – it is thought it potentially has something to do with the currents and the protection of the bay. East Gippsland Training Day

 
On June 25th, the Fishcare EG volunteers boarded the Stormbird at the Lakes Entrance Post Office Jetty for a boat trip to Metung and back. This day is a training day for the volunteers with 2 guest speakers to talk about the different subjects relating to the important ecosystems of the Gippsland Lakes. Read More...

Portsea Camp Partnerhsip

 
 

Within the Port Phillip Bay region, we have been working on further strengthening is our Partnership with The Portsea Camp. The Portsea Camp is a not-for-profit organisation who run five week-long school holiday camps for disadvantaged and rurally isolated children aged between 9 and 16 years, these are our Making A Difference (MAD) camps. Read More...

Nagel College Eco-Warriors

 
 

For over 10 years, Fishcare East Gippsland has supported the Nagle College Year 9, Eco-warrior science students. The Mitchell River flows through the edge of the school grounds and originally was heavily impacted and degraded over with major loss of native vegetation and bank erosion. Read More...

Vic Fish Kids - Williamstown!

 
 

Fishcare Geelong/Bellarine combined forces with Fishcare Melbourne Mornington Peninsula and Westernport (MMPW) to deliver the first VicFishKids of 2019.

Each VicFishKids are a fun and free event for families to learn how to cast, tie knots and of course to try and catch some fish! The VicFishKids at Williamstown celebrated Cultural diversity in fishing with a large array of activities for families to undertake. Fishcare teamed up with the education staff from the Victorian Fisheries Authority to run Sustainable fishing education prior to their fishing session on the Pier. Read More...

Ballarat & Central Highlands

Over a period of 9 days Central has attended the Ballarat special school where students were instructed in knot tying, bag and size limits, bait ID then went fishing to Lake Esmond in Ballarat for 3 short  sessions then to St Georges Lake in Creswick for another 3 Sessions. Read More...

In the South West we have been working closely with the Glenelg-Hopkins CMA recently undertaking some Fishy Fun sessions along the bank of the Merri River at Platypus Park in Warrnambool. We provided some educational fishing games and the CMA provided the water bugs which put together was a great mix of activities and had participants engaged for ages. Read More...
