Jason & Brenda Carwile - June 2019

"For the one at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure, is God."

Philippians 2:13 - Lexham English Bible
Greetings, <<First Name>>,

Imagine hiking through dense jungle on a trail marked by steep inclines and log bridges. Birds call out to one another.  Sometimes there would be other travelers, sometimes half an hour would go by without seeing another person.

On one such hike Jason met another man, a deacon at the church in Hinangave.  The deacon praised God for bringing them together on the trail.  He was able to talk with Jason about Bible translation until all his questions were answered.  In May Jason hiked jungle trails almost every day for two weeks.  First he would go to an area and announce his arrival, then he would tell those he met he would visit again in two days.  This allowed for those in a village to go to outlying gardens and gather people for his next visit.  Jason cleared up questions about what the translation process would look like and who would be involved.  When our family stays in August two people from each dialect will be nominated as translators.  The communities have already determined who will have a say in what work begins first.

Due to a broken exhaust part on the helicopter Jason’s May trip was delayed by about a week.  But he was able to spend a full two weeks out in Hinihon as planned.  We will go out as a family in August, once Esther is 6 months.  We are prayerfully looking into possibilities for the end of this year that allow Pamosu speakers to come to the mission center for our continued language learning and to begin training.  Next year the Pamosu translators will have training at the mission center.

The middle of June Brenda and Esther traveled two time zones to attend Brenda’s brother’s wedding.  They are very thankful for the safe travel to and from Borneo and the time with family to celebrate this important occasion.

The next school year begins Wednesday July 24th.  Norman will be starting preschool.  Marie will be in second year preschool while Felicity enters first grade.

Now we are at the mission center working on final preparations for the next trip to Hinihon.  We will meet with the scripture use coordinator for our area to see what resources are available.  Supplies (mainly foodstuffs) are being collected to be sent in with the helicopter when it comes to pick us up after our August stay.

God has carried us through a fair amount of traveling these past couple months.  Both trips were encouraging and blessed our family in many ways.  Now we look forward to a month of staying put and undertaking our next travel plans as a family.
