Two new training opportunities from Trusting News

Hi there. Joy here.

You subscribe to Trust Tips, so you've already made an investment in building a better relationship with your audience (you know, the people you're here to serve). We're thrilled to tell you today about two ways you can make a bigger commitment to earning their trust.

And thanks to foundation funding, they're both free.

  1. The first is a webinar series through The Poynter Institute. It will include five webinars, supported by The Knight Foundation. The first two webinars have been scheduled for August and October, and the next three will be in 2020. If a one-hour commitment at a time seems like something you're ready for, subscribe to the whole series (did we mention it's free?) here

  2. The second is an online course we're calling Trust 101. This five-week class, supported by Democracy Fund, includes four video class sessions (two live, two recorded) and a Slack workspace. Participants will commit three to four hours a week and will create an action plan for proactively describing the mission, values and processes of their journalism to their audiences. This one will involve personalized feedback, so space is limited.

And don't forget, our free one-on-one coaching is still available as well. Our team of trust coaches is available to chat about specific projects you're working on, complaints you're hearing and things you wish your community knew (and valued) about your journalism. Request your session here.

We know, it’s really hard to make time for things like this (as I wrote about recently). Finding extra hours to focus on learning is tough. But what is the point of journalism if we don’t have a trusted relationship with the people we aim to serve? What good is the work we do if our community doesn’t find it credible? This is about our ability to survive and thrive.

If you agree, let us help get you on a productive path.

Cheers!
