New Zuckerman Fund Helps US-Israel Research Ties Drive the Global Artificial Intelligence Revolution

Gertler, Zuckerman Institute trustee at the announcement. “Supporting tomorrow’s technological solutions through today’s research is a crucial manifestation of our vision that philanthropy’s ultimate goal is the betterment of society as a whole,” added fellow trustee Eric J. Gertler.

Zisapel brothers gift Technion EE a state-of-the-art facility
Since graduating from Technion, Zohar and Yehuda Zisapel have consistently invested in their alma mater. With their generous help and support, a new building will be added to the Electrical Engineering complex at Technion. As Technion’s largest faculty, the Andrew and Erna Viterbi Faculty of Electrical Engineering is one of the most important research centers for EE in the world, and the most illustrious in Israel.

The new Zisapel Electrical Engineering Building will house cutting-edge labs, research facilities, and conference spaces and will function as a hub for basic and applied research for training scientists, students and engineers, and for developing advanced technologies.

An action-packed Board of Governors meeting 2019
Highlights of the International Board of Governors included the conferment of six Honorary Fellows and seven Honorary Doctors; a tribute to Larry and Eleanor Jackier; and the announcement of the Zuckerman Institute AI Fund. Ceremonies included the Adelis Brain Research Award; the Prince Theater Inauguration; and the Leesa Steinberg Wind Tunnel Control Room dedication. Guests lectures were given by Mellanox CEO Eyal Waldman and Jewish Agency Chair, Isaac Herzog.

Inspired by the slinky, helical spring toy, Dr. Bob’s TechnoBrain 2019 competition challenged students to create a non-spill contraption capable of descending 18 stairs carrying an open standard-sized container filled with water. Technion Mourns Norman Seiden
A steadfast friend and a champion for Israel and Technion, Norman Seiden (above left) was Technion Guardian, Technion Honorary Doctor and Deputy Chair of the International Board of Governors.
His numerous gifts to Technion included the Barbara and Norman Seiden Advanced Optoelectronics Center, academic chairs and research prizes. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute. Norman passed on his love for Technion to his children, and will be greatly missed by the entire Technion family.
