Keeping it Moving

The last six weeks have been full of a lot of great ministry and a much needed family vacation. In fact, I am actually writing this update from my hotel room in the jungle during a teaching break. Below are some pictures to help tell the story.

I taught a conference on sound doctrine at a church in Nueva Luz which is a rural community in the jungle about seven hours away from Cusco. The pastor there is part of one of our training sites so it was fun to spend time with him in his own context. I traveled there with a national pastor friend of mine. I did the conference all day Saturday and he preached on Sunday.

Gifts from the farms of the people of Nueva Luz (the church above). They filled the back of our Pathfinder with fruit. This is half of what they gave us!

We hosted the pastor and another leader from my parents' church who are interested in getting the church involved in some ministry in Peru. Here they are with the pastor from the church we attend checking out our church's ministry in a Quechua village about an hour outside of Cusco. We had a blast with them!

We also hosted a couple of students from Beeson Divinity School for a week and got a chance to introduce them to missionary family life and a little of our ministry in Cusco. Betsy does a great job of making everyone we host feel right at home.

A group from a large church in Cusco that we train. Some of the leaders in this training are preparing to be sent out to plant churches in the surrounding villages while others are the current pastors/leaders and others are up and coming leaders of the church. Here they are doing a group project that served as their final exam for our New Testament course.

Andy and I started a new training site in Cusco with a group from the Assemblies of God.

A church in a Quechua community I recently visited and taught in. The next two pictures are from this same trip.

The walk to one of the church member's house.

This is the church member's house. It was obviously very modest - dirt floors, one room with a fire place on one side that is used to do their cooking, and their family bed on the other side.

Last week Andy and I taught on church history and how to interpret parables. At the end of the week the guys had to present a teaching on a section of parables from Matthew 13. They did really great!
