48, 49, 50 and 51....
They're not just numbers...... 48 and 49 represent the 48th and 49th families that now have a decent and affordable place to call home because of their partnership with Habitat for Humanity.  The Anderst and Martinez Families had their homes dedicated earlier this month.  They are so proud to be new homeowners!

This is what 48 looks like - pictures from the Anderst House Dedication:

The Manderfeld Family is launched!
I saw Carolyn Manderfeld yesterday at her part-time job (she also works full-time with the Northfield Public Schools).  Carolyn shared this picture with me of her youngest daughter's graduation from high school.  I love this picture!  I can remember when all three of those kids were moving into their Habitat home over 7 years ago!  And, look at them now!

Luke (on the right) graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in Business.  He works as a writer at WriteBrain in Des Moines.  His fiance (that's her in the picture frame) is in her last year in the Veterinary Program, and she will soon be entering a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at Iowa State University. Noah (on the left) is in his senior year at Drake University, majoring in Broadcast News with a minor in Entrepreneurship.  He holds several part-time jobs as an on-air staff at Des Moines Radio and Sports Director and President of Drake Broadcasting System.  Grace (the graduate) is attending University of Wisconsin - Stout, majoring in Interior Design this fall.

Not only have all three of Carolyn's kids outgrown her (the mom is now the shortest of them all!) - they have outgrown what she had even thought their successes would be!  When we met Carolyn she was living in a two bedroom apartment.  She was sharing a room with her daughter and the two sons were sharing a room.  This made for tense living, over-crowding and overall stressful living.  But moving into a Habitat house created a sense of stability, calm and freedom for this family.

It's because of consistent and hard working parents AND a stable home that these kids are now launched into this world!  Congrats to the Manderfeld's and ALL graduates!

Build Update!
There are some final tasks to be done at 506 30th Street in Faribault, which we're grateful the Go To Crew is taking care of.

We'll be looking for more volunteers when we start our TWO NEW builds with the Doneux and Iverson families.  If you're interested in volunteer opportunities for yourself, a team of co-workers or your church, call Jodi Beach, 507-403-7868 or send her an e-mail, jodihabitat@gmail.com
Support Dave Wolf in the Habitat 500
Dave is riding 500 miles ON A BIKE to support Habitat!  Won't you support him?

Now entering its 27th year, the Habitat 500 is a bicycle ride (not race) and fundraiser that covers up to 500 miles over the course of 6 days. Each rider raises funds from family, friends, businesses, and church groups and designates the Habitat for Humanity affiliates they wish to support (both locally and around the world). This ride is coordinated and hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota.
