Enjoy June’s Book of the Month

There is no better time to celebrate Pa Ingalls and National Fishing Week than in June! We hope you all enjoyed Father’s Day and that some of you got the chance to catch a fish with your Pa. As we think about all the great Pas out there, we’re reminded of the timeless lessons they have taught us that shape who we are and strive to be. Pa Ingalls, in particular, taught us about kindness, courage, and resourcefulness. What was your favorite life lesson he shared?

Laura knew that there was nothing quite like a cold refreshing drink on a hot summer’s day, especially when she was working hard trampling the hay! She describes the delight of drinking Ma’s ginger-water after a long day of chores, so we decided to try it for ourselves. This drink has a sweet-tart taste like many infused sports water drinks but uses all-natural ingredients you can find in your own home!

Do you have a little one in your life who is celebrating a summer birthday? If so, why not embrace some amazing old-fashioned fun with a Little House on the Prairie themed birthday party! These Little House aprons, serving trays, and glassware are also a perfect complement for such a gathering! This month, we’re spotlighting Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder by Caroline Fraser. Published in 2017, this comprehensive historical biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder draws on unpublished manuscripts, letters, diaries, and land and financial records to offer fresh insight about Wilder’s life and times. Caroline Fraser masterfully fills in the gaps in Wilder’s biography, setting the record straight regarding charges of ghostwriting that have swirled around the books and uncovering the grown-up story behind the most influential childhood epic of pioneer life. Fraser was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for this “deeply researched and elegantly written” book.
