'Local and Loyal'

Upcoming Events

We have two massive club events coming up over the next month, see below for details:

Saturday 20th July - 'Local and Loyal' Round

As a club, we pride ourselves on having produced almost all of our players from our Junior Clubs', focusing on the invaluable mateship that PHAFL provides, as opposed to flashy cheques and match payments. Now in its second year, 'Local and Loyal' round is an opportunity to say THANKYOU to those junior clubs' - Hornsby Eagles, North Ryde Dockers, Pennant Hills Demons and Westbrook Bulldogs, for providing a platform for our players to develop as footballers, and more importantly, as people.

Saturday 20th July will see us have a massive seven out of nine teams at home, for what will truely be a Super Saturday (main game - Premier Division VS Manly @ 2pm). During the week, we will have players across all senior teams help out across junior training, with all junior players invited down to 'Jersey Thursday' on the 18th July, where we will be hosting a BBQ with every senior player to wear their junior jersey. On the day, there will be a free sausage sizzle/juice-box for all junior players and we will have a special half-time auskick, with 1x team from each of our junior affiliates.

How is your team going? Premier Division Reserves are undefeated thus far, and will be looking to continue this domination heading into the back half of the year. Women's Division One are sitting second after a strong win over North Shore, and will be looking for a deep finals push this year. Men's Premier Division and Men's Division One are both sitting in finals contention and will be looking to push for a double chance. Whilst Men's Division Two and Women's Division Two find themselves just outside of finals calculations, caught in a lump of teams in mid-table. Men's Division Three, U/19's Division One and Women's Division Three have struggled against some strong competition, however, will be looking to use the experience they've gained in the first half to find some wins in the back half of 2019.

June 22nd - Volunteer Round

Round 10 was AFL Sydney's official Volunteer Round, and on behalf of the club, we wanted to extend our gratitude to all of those who keep the wheels rolling both on and off the field. Whether it's Jack Pinker in the canteen every Saturday, Michael Trenamen running around like a mad-man managing TWO teams, Ian Parker time-keeping every game, Alastair Hey smashing the BBQ for 4 hours every Saturday morning, Al Abbott managing the Div 3 Men's and Div 2/3 Women's whilst simultaneously serving beers at the bar or Steph Tate coaching, playing, managing and being a committee member, we want to say THANKYOU. Whilst those listed above are just the tip of the iceberg, their efforts certainly don't go unnoticed!
The Toothless Creature

The Pennant Hills Demons boast one of the strangest big men in Sydney AFL - Jackson "The Creature" Preedy. He also suffers from severe attention seeking disorder leading to sporadic behaviour. The most recent example of this behaviour was captured by Pennant Hills Photographer David Nixon when creature insisted his Player Profile photo show the "real me" fake tooth out and all!

This may not be for long folks, rumour has it Preedy's significant other wants the tooth put back in permanently... On behalf of the PHAFC community, "LET THE CREATURE CREATCH."

The Last Word

It's cold and wet. You're sore from the weekend. Masterchef is on TV... Get up off the couch, get to training and let's put in the work now that will pay dividends come finals. No excuses the time is now. Don't think, don't hope, DO!!

This starts with getting to training on time and finishes with sticking around for club Thursdays and other club events.

As always a huge thank you to our sponsors. We appreciate your support. Next time you need construction work, blinds, electrical work, mechanical work, a fit out or a feed. THINK LOCAL.
