Thanks Club!

On Friday we asked you to roll with it as we changed grounds, and photo schedules and you did. Thank you everyone for your willingness to take it all in your stride.

As it was, the rain held off and started raining only in the last minute or so of the last game of the day. Could we have stayed at Drummoyne Oval? Maybe. But our pre-emptive move to St Luke's and other ovals was the best option if the storms had rolled in on Saturday as forecast.

Photo Day: Part 2

Let's cross fingers that Photo Day 2 runs as smoothly. Teams taking part will be both U13-3 Teal and U13-1, U15, U14-3, U16 Girls and U17. (U18 Girls, please follow the directions of your coach - an issue has been raised and we will advise you at a team level re your photos.)

For teams doing photos, please be on time with your order envelopes (cash only) to give to your manager. No long skins or sleeves under your uniforms.

Our volunteers

We had so many messages to the club over the weekend, that we did not acknowledge the AFL's grassroots Volunteer Round. As a Club, we would like to thank all those many volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to our Club. We have a regular army of people who line up week in, week out, to help ensure our kids get on the ground. We hope that you feel appreciated because we certainly don't take you for granted.

Merchandise

Word is that our hoodies and tracksuit pants will be with us by Thursday. We hope to be able to distribute at training on Thursday night and over the weekend. If you haven't collected your long sleeved training-tee, you can do so when we distribute other merchandise.

Wet Weather

For training sessions, we'll update FACEBOOK by about 3pm on training days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). On game day, the first place to be updated will be the Wet Weather Check website. We will then also post on social media. Unless you have been told your game is cancelled, assume it is on!

Around the Grounds

The weekend feature match wasn't on the schedule but was a season standout - the impromptu scratch match between U14-1 Youth Girls and U13-3.

U14-1 Orange had turned up to play, only to find they had no opposition. U13-3 had just finished their match.  Suddenly it was game on. There's a gallery of photos here via Michelle and Josef's video here.

You couldn't wipe the smiles off the players' faces and the spectators were having a great time as well - it is a magnificent example of the club culture we've built at the Cannons. Well done to everyone involved! We've had a few people ask who won... well, after Q1, the teams were mixed and mixed again. By the end of the match we had a little brother, a coach and possibly a goal umpire on field but it is safe to say there's a reason why U14-1YG  is undefeated this season!
In scheduled matches....

U12 Orange continued their dominance of the Division 3 competition with their 10th straight win for the season... see the pics, via Michelle.

U12 Teal had a tough opponent in the Moore Park Tigers. While they lost, it was really good to see them fire up in that last quarter.  Gallery of photos here, and a banner run, via Michelle.

U12 Youth Girls are reaping the benefits of their in season recruiting drive... check out how much the team has grown from nine players at the start of season! Thanks Susan for the pic

U13-3 played Manly Bombers before backing up to play with the 14 girls. Not our day, but they showed improvement in all areas. You'll find the gallery online here by Michelle and Joe.

It was a tight contest for U14-2 Youth Girls Teal... it wasn't until the final stages of the game that the Cannons managed to pull away, winning by 11 points. Well done for hanging in there, Cannons. Game day gallery is online here.

Fabulous game for U16 YG v Easts - probably their best for the season. Scores were pretty much level for the whole game. With a minute left on the clock, it went from 45 all to 51-45, our way. Such an exciting game... our girls dug deep and came away with a well deserved win. See the pics from Jane.

A huge team effort saw U14-2 take control of the game against North Ryde at ELS Hall, ending up comfortable winners. You'll find the team song and Coach's summary and a gallery of images from Sonia on or socials.

U17 had a great day out, defeating Cronulla in the last match of the day at St Luke's. Brilliant photos by Kylie.
