Industrial AR all summer long

Hope you are having a great summer so far! The busiest holiday months are still ahead and things may then seem a bit quieter even here at the AR developers den. But don’t worry, you can reach us and our support people throughout the summer - not to mention that there will be a lot of interesting things still going on. Here are a few Industrial AR highlights for the summer.

Are you at Nanjing Tech Week 2019?

We were invited to present our solutions together with our partner Realmax at the Nanjing International Expo Center during the 2019 Nanjing Tech Week. This year’s common theme, Innovation in Nanjing, combines a series of meetings, seminars, and events including the NJ TECH exhibition during June 26.-29. And there we are, as we speak, right at the center of the expo Hall 6 at booth 6CA01. You’re most welcome to come and see some robust and efficient AR solutions in practice if you’re one of the Nanjing visitors this year!

Making AR and IoT work together with ease

Did you know that our SmartAlert product integrates not only with production machines and ERP/MES systems but also with various IoT platforms? We demonstrated SmartAlert with Amazon AWS IoT integration in Computex expo some weeks ago; smart factory data and alerts were transferred realtime from Amazon cloud to Epson Moverio smartglasses. Also, this was one of the few events where WiFi worked exceptionally well despite tons of expo visitors using it, and we were able to present a realistic scenario of how powerful tools smartglasses equipped with Augumenta applications are for factory workers. Thanks to industry standard protocols built into our apps, integration with backend systems is a snap, and designing application UIs with Augumenta Studio couldn't get any easier. So, let us know if you have an IoT related project ongoing and would like to know more, we'd be happy to help:

About FXMedia, our SDK and gesture controlled AR apps

We made a short Q&A interview with one of our customers using the AIP SDK: FXMedia. They have developed a gesture-controlled AR app that works on Epson Moverio smartglasses and is aimed at helping service personnel at their work. Hands-free operation and efficient UX were key factors in choosing the interaction methods. Read the whole story on our blog.

Test and learn with Augumenta

We set about to launch a new series of Augumenta events this May. As you know, explaining industrial AR (and AR in general ; ) and what you can achieve with it can sometimes be challenging. It's a completely different story when a person gets to experience and try AR in practice. Our first Test & Learn AR with Augumenta Team -event was held in Oulu, Finland with success. The second event aimed at education professionals will take place already this autumn. The plan is to extend to other locations later on, so follow us on social media and stay tuned for more events!
