A few people have requested purchasing jackets and shirts. If we have sufficient interest a new order could be placed.  Costs are likely to be more than previously, partly because of the lower $AUS.

4. Keynes Gap - Sunday, July 7th. Starts 10 A.M. - 12 noon. Course closure 1:30. OY
Directions: O-Signs from Eden Valley, turn right (at the pub) onto Rustlea Road for 1.5 km, turn left onto Keynes Hill Road 2.2km, turn right onto Keynes Gap Road for 800m to the end. Note the roads from Eden Valley are unpaved and slippery. This is Private property with livestock, so no dogs allowed. Please do not climb over, touch or disturb any stone walls, so that we retain good relationships (and therefore access!) with our landowners.

This was one of the most popular maps for the National Orienteering carnival held in S.A. last year. It is unique! Keynes Gap is looking magnificent and green at the moment. Courses 1 to 4 will give access to 3 different sections of the map, and 5 and 6 to 2 sections. All of the hard courses make the best use of the intricate boulders and complex terrain with nice runs between the sections to help with mental recovery. On the event day the course setter will have fled to Europe to avoid any wrath from competitors. Have a nice run!

6.  Donate to help Orienteering
The end of financial year is rapidly approaching with June 30 not that far away, and OA is continuing its fundraising partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation to allow tax-deductible donations.

Typically, June is the time when many community donors and philanthropists make their donations to the sports they support. That’s because from July 1, they will be able to lodge a tax receipt for their donations as part of their 2018-19 Tax Return. So why not donate to support an orienteering project now before it’s too late.

There are a range of fundraising projects available for you to choose from that will support Australia’s elite orienteers and OA itself. Many of these projects aim to help offset the high cost of our Senior and Junior elites representing Australia overseas. Information on the various projects can be found here - https://asf.org.au/?s=orienteering

There are 6 OA projects currently available are –
OA WOC Team Support
OA JWOC Team Support
OA High Performance Support
OA MTBO International Competition Support
Southern Arrows WOC/JWOC Representatives Support
Administration Support

West Australian elite MTBO rep Ricky Thackray is also seeking support with his overseas travel expenses and will again be representing Australia in the 2019 MTBO WOC in Denmark in July/August. Ricky’s project can be found here.

So, don’t forget, every donation counts, no matter how small and of course all donations are tax deductable, but need to be made by the end of the month if you’re looking to include it in your 2018-19 Tax Return.

While on the topic of fundraising, if any orienteer is interested in helping with OA’s fundraising by developing, managing and promoting  OA’s fundraising ASF projects and working with the athletes to develop their own fundraising , please contact Paul Prudhoe ( eo@orienteering.asn.au )
