Dementia Together Suffolk is having a positive impact
Dementia Together Suffolk, a service run in partnership by national healthcare charity Sue Ryder, the CCG, NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG and Suffolk County Council, is having a 'significant positive impact', says a report from the University of Suffolk.

Developed together with patients, carers and other stakeholders, Dementia Together aims to work across organisational boundaries so that people can access joined-up support which better meets their needs and allows them to live independently for longer.

CCGs and councils team up to launch Active Schools programme - a really great example of partnership working
A new Active Schools programme has been launched at two schools in Babergh and Mid Suffolk, aiming to increase physical activity in primary schools and combat rising childhood obesity.

The project, which is being partly funded by WSCCG and our partners at NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG, will run for three years with the support of Active Suffolk, the Active Partnership for Suffolk dedicated to increasing the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.
Richard Watson, the CCGs' Deputy Chief Officer (pictured right), said: "We will do everything we can do to support our partners with programmes to help our young people keep active and maintain a healthy weight."

Outstanding and among the very best in the country

The CCG has been given a rating of 'outstanding' by NHS England for its performance and patient care. This is the top rating and means the WSCCG ranks among the very best in the country. A fantastic achievement.

Dr Ed Garratt, the CCG's Chief Officer, said: "This undoubtedly gives local people absolute confidence that we are doing our very best to commission health services that meet local needs and support people to live long and happy lives."
Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said: “I’m delighted with these ‘outstanding’ ratings, meaning people can have confidence in the strength of leadership in their local healthcare system."

Investors in People - CCG achieves Platinum rating
WSCCG has been awarded a Platinum rating by the employer's organisation Investors in People.

This accreditation is the highest honour that can be achieved against the Investor in People Standard.

It recognises an outstanding culture of staff engagement and leadership where staff are best equipped to commission the very best level of health services for local people.

Outstanding work of CCG staff is recognised at awards' ceremony

The commitment and dedication of health commissioner staff was recognised last week at the annual staff awards.

More than 200 workers of the WSCCG and our partners at NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG attended the awards’ presentation.

The CCGs' Dr Garratt said: “With frontline NHS staff most often extolled, quite rightly, for their hard work and commitment, the important role of health commissioner staff is often overlooked.

“CCG staff have a crucial part in shaping and helping to deliver efficient health services in Suffolk and their often unheralded efforts are equally worthy of recognition.

“That is why it was such an honour to be part of these celebrations and I’m proud not only of the award winners, but every one of the CCGs’ staff members who work so hard and with such commitment for the good of local health services.”

Next Generation Ambassador Project

Will you consider becoming a Next Generation Ambassador?

This Care Ambassadors East project is funded by Health Education England and the aim is to boost recruitment and retention in the health and social care sector.

If you work in the health and social care sector why not consider becoming an ambassador?

This would involve visiting schools, colleges, job centres and attending careers events to promote careers and opportunities in the sector. There’s no minimum commitment on hours, so there’s plenty of flexibility.

If you are passionate about your work please consider getting involved and inspire the Next Generation.

Email ambassadors@caredevelopmenteast.co.uk for more information and see how you could get involved.

Are you attending Latitude?

If you are attending this weekend's Latitude Festival look out for WSCCG's Carol King (pictured right). Carol will be performing with the Suffolk Music and Arts Alumni Trust (SMART) on the Waterfront stage on Sunday July 21 from 11.00 a.m.

Carol has been playing the cello for the past 51 years.
