What We Learned at BLD PNW 2019

This year’s conference theme was Building the B Ecosystem. We heard from B Corp leaders, academics, nonprofits, and values-aligned community members. For the first time ever we expanded our reach at BLD PNW to, and we welcomed over 350 attendees for the conference. Here are a few high-level takeaways from our keynotes:

  • You are not neutral. Equity work begins at the individual level.
  • Authentic communication, trust, and shared values make up the foundation of a culture of collaboration.
  • With the right combination of innovation and perseverance, your company can set the stage for industry-level change.
  • Sometimes nonconformity is the most effective path to success in leadership.
  • B Corps and nonprofits can merge inclusive economies and restorative economies to heal the planet.
  • B Corps can effect systems change by establishing partnerships and collaborations that leverage collective authenticity.
  • It’s time we rethink business to be more human-centered in order to foster engagement and increase impact.
We want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who made this day possible: our speakers, sponsors, volunteers, planning committee, and YOU for attending! We can't list them all here, but we hope you'll give all of these folks some love!

The B Ecosystem Web Needs a Home!

A big shoutout goes to Kelsey Moody from The Joinery and Danya Rose-Merkle from WERK_ for taking on the big art installation project of creating a visualization of our interconnected B Ecosystem at BLD PNW. The resulting web from the day just goes to show how deeply connected we all already are, and the possibilities the future holds for more connection.

Now, the web needs a home! Do you have a space where you would be interested in hosting the B Ecosystem web, temporarily or permanently? Please reach out to us at info@blocalpdx.com to let us know if you have an idea or are interested.
