Food Truck Party in the Park! The weather didn't really co-operate, but we had a food truck party anyway! Thanks to Greg at Go Powersports who opened up indoor seating for us, the show went on in the rain and it was a blast. We are making this an annual event, so if you missed it we will catch you next time!
BUSINESS PARK LAND FOR SALE
The Kentville Business park is growing- and there’s room to keep going. Since purchasing 40 Acres from NSBI in 2014, the Town has sold 18 of those acres to new businesses who have located to the park, and one that needed room for an expansion. Lots available in the lower section of the park are available at $25,000 per acre, and lots with 101 frontage are listed for $45,000 per acre.

A reminder about Council and CAC meetings, and some pointers for groups and organizations:
If you are presenting to Town Council, your meeting package materials are due 5 days prior to the meeting at which you are presenting. Council typically meets on a Monday, so that means your deadline for materials to be submitted to the Executive Assistant is the Wednesday before the meeting, at noon.
Presentations to Council are preferred at CAC meetings vs. Council Meetings. CAC meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month.

A Governance Minute: Financial Condition Indicators (FCIs) Part 2 of 3
Kentville’s Report
Each of a municipality’s indicators is assessed against risk thresholds: low risk (green), moderate risk(yellow) and high risk (red). This provides a quick visual of a municipality’s strengths and possible areas where a municipality may want to focus its attention. The Town of Kentville has 10 indicators assessed at low risk (well within the recommended threshold) and three indicators assessed at moderate risk.
In geographic area, the Municipality is approximately 17 km2 with 3,041 dwellings. The Town of Kentville’s population is 6,270, which makes up 0.7% of the provincial population. The population of Kentville has increased over the last 20 years. In 1996 the population was 5,551.
Our employment rate, income rate and education level are above the provincial town average and have increased since 2011.
To fund our expenditure responsibilities, the Town of Kentville relies on taxes for 55 % of its revenue. In 2018, 96% of municipal revenues was generated from Kentville’s own sources, while only 4% was dependent on transfers from other levels of government.
The Town’s general operating revenue is stable. The Town of Kentville’s tax assessment growth is slightly below the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This indicates that the tax base was able to cover the increasing cost of municipal services and programs.
The Town consistently maintained its expenditures within the budget limits. For the last five years, the Town has been able to meet its needs in a balanced manner and has maintained a balanced budget. We estimate there is 59.5% of useful life remaining in our capital assets.
