The summer is an exciting time for school children. It's a time for sleeping in, no homework, swimming, and playing outside. Unfortunately, the end of the school year also means the end of access to food that children fighting food insecurity rely on. Because childhood hunger doesn't take a vacation, neither do we. And we need you to help us fight childhood hunger year round.
We have several volunteer opportunities planned for this summer that you do NOT want to miss! Make sure you are signed up to our email newsletter to be up-to-date with what's coming up!
Currently, we have summertime volunteer opportunities in our warehouse. Tasks include labeling and organizing our 2,500 bins by size, sorting and checking best by dates on remaining nonperishable food, and preparing toiletry bags for students in need. Toward the end of summer, we will begin filling bins with weekender food bags so that they are ready to go when school starts. |
